Day 2 – Cliff dwellings at Montezuma Castle
Marvel at the high-rise apartments of the prehistoric Sinagua Indians at Montezuma Castle National Monument on your way to incredible Grand Canyon National Park. Stay in the heart of the park, near the Canyon’s rim, and experience one of nature’s masterpieces with your family after the crowds depart. Over one mile deep, the Grand Canyon is connected with Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon by a series of cliffs know as the Grand Staircase. Spend the night near the canyon's rim in the heart of the canyon.

Day 3 – Explore the Grand Canyon’s East Rim
Watching the glorious sunrise at the Grand Canyon makes getting up very early well worth it! Spend the morning enjoying the Grand Canyon as you please. On a guided tour of the East Rim, you’ll stop at Moran Point and Desert View Lookout, each offering a different view of the Grand Canyon, en route to lovely Lake Powell.

Day 4 – View Rainbow Bridge from the air
Your adventures at Lake Powell will be a highlight of your Arizona vacation. Get a bird’s eye view of the amazing Rainbow Bridge and Lake Powell on a flight-seeing expedition. Later, take a boat cruise on Lake Powell or an expedition by 4-wheel drive vehicle to mystical Antelope Canyon. A variety of water sports are yours to enjoy this afternoon.

Day 5 – Rafting in Glen Canyon
No Arizona vacation would be complete without a rafting experience. Your family will never forget rafting through Glen Canyon together. Enjoy real western entertainment during lunch in Kanab this afternoon, a town you may recognize as the setting for most of the famous "cowboy" movies that were made. Continue on to Bryce Canyon National Park along a rim road offering spectacular views of astounding stone spires in shades of pink, red and orange.

Day 6 – Ride the trails of Bryce Canyon

Day 7 – Natural and neon wonders

Day 2 – Raft down the Snake River and explore Grand Teton National Park

Spend some time in the town of Jackson, and then enjoy all of the fun things to do at Jackson Lake Lodge.

Day 3 – Inside Yellowstone National Park
Your accommodations at Yellowstone are just steps away from the famous Old Faithful Geyser. Explore the geologic wonders of the park with your Tauck Director. On Cowboy Country, there’s an opportunity to help with a special volunteer project alongside park experts; Tauck received a special Presidential Award in the summer of 2006 for this on-tour volunteer program.

Day 4 – A perfect Yellowstone vacation day
Start your day with a wildlife-spotting walk. See some of the 10,000 hot springs within the park, as well as bubbling pools of mud and volcanic calderas with an expert local guide; and, a short distance from your lodge, watch mighty Old Faithful shoot its plume of steam high into the air – a highlight of any Yellowstone vacation.

Day 5 - Learn about Buffalo Bill and go to a rodeo

Day 6 – Bighorn Mountains and The Ranch at Ucross

Stand where the American patriots who bravely signed the Declaration of Independence once stood in Independence Hall in the City of Brotherly Love. Pretend that you’re a cocoa bean on your way to becoming chocolate at Hershey’s Chocolate World. Imagine living without your TV or computer as you watch the Amish people still living the plain and simple lives of their forbearers in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Walk the battlefields where the tide of the Civil War turned at Gettysburg. You’ll say “Ooh-rah!” as you learn about the proud history of the Marine Corps, and what it means to be a “Leatherneck,” at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Journey to Colonial Williamsburg for a two-night stay and dine at a Williamsburg tavern just as colonists in the 1700s did. Day 1 – Welcome to Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love”
Tour begins: 5:00 PM at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing (airport transfers are not included). If you can, try to arrive in Philadelphia earlier in the day so you can see the Liberty Bell and some of the city’s other famous sights. Join us this evening to meet your Tauck Director and fellow explorers on this trip through history to Gettysburg, Williamsburg and Washington, DC at our welcome dinner.

Day 2 – City landmarks and country insights
Start the day in Philadelphia with a tour that includes a stop at famous Independence Hall, where courageous delegates from the thirteen colonies put their lives on the line by signing the Declaration of Independence; where George Washington was named commander-in-chief of the Continental Army; where Betsy Ross’ design for the first flag was approved; and where the American Constitution was drafted. That’s a whole lot of history in just one building! Then, travel into rural Lancaster Country, “the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country,” where the Amish people still live very much as their ancestors did without things like electricity, cars, computers and TV – necessities that we probably couldn’t live without! You may see them driving along the roads in their horse-drawn buggies or tending their fields with a plow pulled by a horse or a mule. The Amish are very private people so please don’t take their pictures without their permission. Sweet treats wait when you arrive in Hershey, “The Sweetest Place on Earth,” for an overnight stay.

Day 3 – Chocolate capers and a battlefield
So, imagine that you’re a cocoa bean that’s just arrived in Hershey. See the process you’d go through to become chocolate candy – and learn how the Hershey Kiss got its name – during a visit to the candy factory at Hershey’s Chocolate World. Continue on to historic Gettysburg, site of the crucial battles that marked an important turning point in the Civil War and are often referred to as the “High Water Mark of the Confederacy.” You’ll find out what happened here from a local guide as you tour the battlefields. Perhaps you’ll see the equestrian statue of General George Meade, commander of the Union 93,000 “Army of the Potomac” troops who ultimately won the battle and stopped General Robert E. Lee’s 70,000 Confederate soldiers’ advance northward.

Day 4 – “Ooh-rah!” and “Semper Fi!”
If someone in your family has been a member of the United States Marine Corps, you probably know what that means. Marines, often called “Leathernecks,” say “Ooh-rah” with considerable enthusiasm when greeting each other and “Semper Fi!” is a Marine Corps rallying cry taken from the Corps’ motto, “Semper Fidelis,” which means “ever faithful.” At the National Museum of the Marine Corps, you’ll learn how boot camp transforms Marine recruits from just ordinary folks to elite warriors. Discover the heroic feats of brave Marines in battles around the world and view priceless artifacts from the Corps’ proud history. Then, head off to Colonial Williamsburg for a two-night stay. Tonight, you’ll have dinner at one of the Williamsburg colonial taverns just like citizens did in the 18th century.

Day 5 – Wonderful Williamsburg
Have you ever wondered what life was like when America was a brand-new nation? At Colonial Williamsburg, you’ll be able to see it for yourself. You’ll meet 18th-century people going about their daily chores just as people did back then. Tonight, explore Williamsburg by the light of flickering gas lamps as you hear about the legends and lore of the Williamsburg of long ago.

Day 6 – A home fit for a president
After leaving Williamsburg this morning, you’ll head off to historic Mount Vernon. Set on the banks of the Potomac River, Mount Vernon was the awesome plantation home of “America’s first hero” and first president, George Washington. Discover what life was like for the Washingtons during your visit. Later, the shadowy world of international intrigue awaits you at the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC. Discover how talented spies have changed the course of history as you tour this cool museum.

Day 7 – Monumental Washington, DC
You’ve seen pictures of them and you’ve read about them. Today, you’ll visit them – the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, and the United States Capital Building, and see other famous sights like the Washington Monument on a guided tour. Then, take a walk through America’s historic legacies as you explore the Smithsonian Museum of American History. There will be free time this afternoon for you and your family to spend as you please. Join us this evening at our farewell dinner, where you can swap favorite memories of Williamsburg, Philadelphia, Gettysburg and Washington, DC with your new friends.
